Would all of the certified nurses please stand up?

Everyone is clapping for you! And, look! They have balloons, too!

Ok, you can sit back down now…

Did you know that today is Certified Nurses Day?

Certified Nurses Day began back in 2008 as a way to bring public recognition and appreciation to all of the nurses who choose to pursue certification in their specialties. Margretta “Gretta” Madden Styles was the pioneer and inspiration behind nursing certification, so Certified Nurses Day is held on her birthday, March 19th, every year.

I earned my CNOR in 2017, and now that the test anxiety and massive amounts of studying are over, I can definitely say that I’m glad I have it. During my CNOR review course, there were several times that I thought to myself, “I NEVER knew that!” Let’s just be honest here, I probably told the person sitting next to me, too. But I learned so much by taking the class and studying for the test! And I’m proud to say that I passed the test and have my certification.

To all of you who have given up your time and energy to earn your certification, congratulations! I hope that your achievement is recognized today and that you feel appreciated.

Be proud of all of the hard work you put in to becoming certified. Enjoy being celebrated today!
