So far, we’ve looked at 30 different things that are unique to our lives as O.R. people. It’s funny how we can see so much of the O.R. around our house – did you know an asepto makes a great bathtub toy? And it’s interesting to see how our perspective on life is shaped by the things we see and do everyday in the operating room.
But a big list of “Ifs” doesn’t really even scratch the surface of our crazy lives – I’m sure we could go on forever!
OK, let’s not, because that would get old…and maybe weird.
Or both.
But I digress…
Instead, how ’bout we close out this “You Might Work In The O.R.” series today?
The final 15 are included in today’s list. And I’d love to know – which one is your favorite??
It’s really hard for me to pick! I can relate to so many of them! However, #45 makes me laugh the most and brings several close friends to mind. So I’ll say #45 is my favorite…for now…That may change as I read through all three lists again, though.

#31 – You open string cheese like a suture packet
#32 – Every pair of tennis shoes you’ve ever worn to work is stained with betadine, Chloraprep, blood, or a hazardous combination of all three
#33 – You’ve ever sewn up your scrub jacket (or socks) with suture
#34 – You impulsively save ALL blue wrap off of your trays when you are getting ready to move
#35 –
#36 – Blue towels and lap sponges are staples in your kitchen and garage
#37 – You’ve got a scrub cap that matches your swim suit
#38 – The first thing co-workers say when they see you outside of work is, “Wow, I’ve never seen you with clothes on before!”
#39 – You handpick the circulator, scrub, anesthesia team, and surgeon for any family member (or friend!) that needs surgery
#40 – 
#41 – The thought of working in bedside nursing makes you cringe – but you sure appreciate those nurses that love it
#42 – You know that every shift before and after a holiday is absolutely terrible
#43 – The Christmas holidays don’t even exist in your world until January, because you’re never home during December anyway
#44 – Hearing someone say, “This will only take an hour,” makes you shake your head in disbelief
