Happy Friday!
Last weekend, I shared with you Part One of this “You Might Work In The O.R.” series. (If you missed it, you can read it here) So many of you have let me know that you could relate to some – if not all – of them. Isn’t it funny how so much of what we do every day shows up in our lives outside of the O.R.? Or, just how different working in the O.R. is compared to working in other nursing units or departments? The things we say and do while we’re at work would never make sense in another department!
Today’s list includes several things that we say and do at work that would just be so out of place in any other setting. Yet, in the O.R., they’re perfectly normal!

You Might Work In The O.R. If…Part Two
#16 – Saying, “Hey, let me tie you up,” is a normal part of everyday conversation
#17 – You think brushing your hair before work is optional
#18 – You know that any reference in the O.R. made to “giblets” has nothing to do with Thanksgiving Dinner
#19 – You turn off your faucets at home with a paper towel
#20 – 
#21 – FSLX, CT-1, RB-1, and SH actually mean something to you
#22 – The majority of the magnets on your fridge (or locker) came from a mag-mat
#23 – Yelling, “TIMEOUT!” doesn’t mean that someone’s in trouble
#24 – You’ve ever had to pull up someone else’s pants…and it wasn’t your child

#26 – You’re territorial over your pens – inside the O.R. and out
#27 – You’ve made and canceled a doctor’s appointment at least three times before finally being able to go
#28 – You don’t see the need to wear makeup, except on your eyes. Who’s going to see the rest anyway?
#29 – You’ve ever put on hand lotion and cotton gloves before bed only to wake up and find them neatly removed – O.R. Style – beside your bed in the morning
